Giving Back…It’s just part of our Culture here at Litchfield Bancorp.

Like many businesses here in Northwest Connecticut, Litchfield Bancorp is asked to donate to and support local non-profits, community development projects and schools in our area. Of course, giving back is important to ensure these organizations are able to fiscally thrive, but to us here at LBC it’s far more than that.Giving back is simply a part of our culture here at Litchfield Bancorp. It starts from the top down with our Board of Directors and our leadership team.  They foster and encourage a sense of philanthropy and volunteering with our employees.  All of us, regardless of title or income level, are encouraged to and WANT to volunteer, help out and give.

From being board members for local non-profits to supporting big capital campaigns such as the United Way to helping with small community events for the Park & Rec Department, regional schools, theatre groups and local fire department our team is there to help – year after year.

I guess what really makes me smile when I think of our Giving Culture is that our employees embrace it and enjoy it. Volunteering isn’t a chore, giving back isn’t a requirement – it’s simply what we do and we love it.

There’s really nothing like seeing the joy on a co-workers face when they realize they’ve made a difference in the life of someone less fortunate. Or the pure elation on the face of an executive director from a local non-profit when we present them a check that truly is a game changer for them and the clients they serve.  Or the camaraderie we all feel when we team together on a project or a campaign and realize the result of our efforts will change someone’s life…for the better.

Sometimes it’s the little things. Since 2007, we’ve participated in Blue Jeans Fridays at our branches.  Our employees pay to dress casually on Fridays and the money goes to a local charity.  Sure we all love dressing down a bit after a week of suits and corporate wear, but it really is seeing how much money we raise at the end of the year and who we decide to give it to that puts the real smiles on our faces.

I’m really proud to work for a company who understands the importance of community, and I love working with my fellow Litchfield Bancorp team members to make a difference in the towns where we work, play and live.
